Advanced high-strengthsteel (AHSS) is being used increasingly to form automotive structural parts because of safety and weight requirements. Stamping of this material can be challenging, as it has a higher strength and lower formability than conventional steel. One of these challenges is the control of springback. Springback is the dimensional change of the deformed part after unloading, caused by elastic recovery. An accurate prediction of springback is of great importance to its compensation so that tool geometries can be modified before they are manufactured.
