The addition of slurry from cleaning blast-furnace gases to sinter batch in place of coke is effective and economical. The slurry may serve as an additional source of iron-bearing components for the metallurgical process, with improvement in properties of the resulting sinter. Industrial and laboratory data indicate that 15-20 percent slurry may be added to the initial batch; complete replacement of the coke entails correction of the iron composition in the initial batch by introducing scale or other components with an elevated iron content.
