Comminution and classification technology are used widely in ceramics. The spectrum ranges from more traditionally based plants through to very modern and innovative solutions, especially in ceramics, and consequently, practical experience is being incorporated. Increased demands on product quality and cost pressure remain a challenge for the ceramics industry. The resulting trend to ever finer particles or consistently narrower particle size distribution and the necessity for significant reductions in energy consumption will increase the importance of better performing comminution and classification technology. For this reason, the link between technical application and technological research will and must become closer.
