摘要

The authors have investigated the mechanical behavior of a ceramic-composite, hot-gas-candle-filter material at room temperature~(12). In this paper, we report some high temperature mechanical properties of the same material system. To obtain material properties at elevated temperature, we developed a four-point-bend tube-testing system for the candle filter. Tests were performed at temperatures up to 985 deg C. The test result indicates a slight decrease in the flexure stiffness with increasing temperature. Analytical models are developed to correlate the test result with the constituent properties. The stiffness change of both reinforcing fiber tow and chopped fiber matrix are taken into account. In this paper, our high temperature tube testing technique, test result, and analytical models are presented.
