This work contains an example of the transmission simulator method for experimental dynamic substructuring using the Ampair 600 wind turbine. A modal test was performed on the hub with a single blade attached and then, using the hub as a transmission simulator, this subsubstructure was replicated three times, rotated into the correct orientation and then assembled together with two negative copies of the hub. Substructuring predictions of the modes and frequency response functions for the three-bladed assembly were compared to a set-of-truth test data. The article also highlights the dynamic substructuring wiki, where the test data for this structure and other helpful resources are available for researchers or engineers who wish to test these techniques using real measurements.
