AN announcement of the Product of the Year 2009 winners was made at a glittering evening held atVodadome in Midrand, Johannesburg recently (results were published in the February issue of Food Review and are available online at www.foodreview.co.za/73323). Preetesh Sewraj, managing director of Product of the Year SA, explained to an enraptured audience that the competition had operated on every continent of the planet, with the exception of Africa. It has now come to South Africa, which means thatthe South African consumer gets to benefit from an independent process to ascertain the best product of the year that exists.
