摘要

The removal of NO_x from the oxygen-rich exhaust gases of diesel and lean burn engines typically requires the addition of a reducing agent as the decomposition of NO_x to N2 is slow under oxygen-rich reaction conditions (i.e., λ> 1). Currently there are two processes technically feasible: 1) the direct addition of a reducing agent such as ammonia, urea, or hydrocarbons and 2) altering the operation mode of the engine to operate periodically under oxidizing and reducing operation conditions.
