摘要

Fractional excretion of phosphate (FEP) has become a relatively popular screening test for renal function in dogs. This test indicates the excretion of phosphate per unit of glo-merular filtration rate (GFR) and is calculated using urine and plasma creati-nine and phosphate ratios. The accuracy of FEP as an indicator of renal function was evaluated and compared with that of plasma creatinine concentration, a more commonly used screening test. Glomerular filtration rates were determined using technetium diethyltriaminopentacetic acid in 123 dogs with suspected renal problems. Plasma creatinine and phosphate concentrations were measured in all dogs, and urine creatinine and phosphate concentrations were determined in 67.
