The Dirtiest White Collars: It's bad enough when companies do wrong. It's worse when they're in denial

The spring awards season is already under way, with the Academy Awards now in February, and the Pulitzer Prizes will be announced in April. Here at Common Sense, I've decided to create my own award: the Arthur Andersen Memorial Prize for Worst White-Collar Defense of the Year. Arthur Andersen, you will recall, is the former big accounting firm that imploded after it destroyed evidence in the Enron investigation, refused to admit wrongdoing and to settle the case, and then further provoked the Justice Department by exhorting its employees to march in the streets of Washington. It was convicted of obstruction of justice and promptly collapsed.
