Rust fungi (Uredinales) of northwest Argentina

This paper presents the results of a study of rust fungi (Uredinales) on wild and cultivated plants in the provinces of Catamarca, Jujuy, Salta and Tucuman that belong to the region known as Northwest Argentina. The rust fungi are represented by 635collections on 257 host plant species belonging to 51 vascular plant families. These rusts constitute 182 species in 30 genera of which 61 are new records for Argentina and 10 are new species of rusts. Eighty-four of the collections represent new host records for Argentina, and 50 of these are new host records for rusts. Specimens have been deposited in either Fundacidn Miguel Lillo (LIL) or the U.S. National Fungus Collection (BPI).
