LEAF-PRINT ANALYSES: AN ECOLOGICALLY FRIENDLY METHODOLOGY FOR PLANT IDENTIFICATION

Because the taxonomy of Stanbopea (Orchidaceae) has been established exclusively on analyses of the flower, field identification is complicated by the fugacious habit. As an aid to species confirmation, a system is offered that is ecologically friendly, economical, and statistically based. Clinical use of this system suggests it may also have value in determining the degree to which natural and man-made hybrids are related to each species-parent.
