International Conference 'Science of Refractory Materials: Achievements and Problems'

摘要

The International Conference "Science of Refractory Materials: Achievements and Problems" was held from May 27-29 in Kiev, Ukraine. The Conference was devoted to 90 years from the birth of Grigorii Valentinovich Samsonov, eminent scientist, scientific organizer and pedagogue, corresponding member of the Soviet Academy of Science, laureate of the state prize of the USSR, eminent scientist of the Ukraine. The name of G. V. Samsonov is linked with a whole epoch of the development of modern materials science on materials from refractory compounds as a base for new composite materials and technologies in the second half of the XX century. G. V. Samsonov was awarded important international honors, was member of Editorial Boards of a series of International Publications and was one of the founders of the International Institute for the Science of Sintering. He was awarded the highest honor of the International Plansee Society - Association for Powder Metallurgy - the Plansee-Werke medal. He published over 1500 scientific papers, over 50 monographs and manuals. Practically all monographs with high citation indexes on/refractory compounds mention his work. A prize named after G. V. Samsonov has been introduced for the best paper published in the journal "Science of Sintering".
