De novo generalised non-convulsive status epilepticus triggered by piperacillin/tazobactam.

Situation-related generalised non-convulsive status epilepticus (NCSE) is a condition which generally occurs in non-epileptic adults or elderly subjects precipitated by drugs, toxics, metabolic disturbances or electroconvulsive therapy. Diverse pharmacological agents such as psychotropics, cephalosporins and antineoplas-tic drugs have been mentioned in the past as frequent cause of drug-induced generalised NCSE. We report herein to the best of our knowledge, the first case of generalised NCSE precipitated by the use of piperacillin-tazobactam.
