'Great Green Fleet' to Have First Demonstration During RIMPAC in June, US Navy Says

The Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2012 exercise, scheduled from June 29 to August 3 around the Hawaiian Islands, will feature the first demonstration of a U.S. Navy's "Great Green Fleet," a strike group of aircraft carriers powered by biofuels. During the demonstration, U.S. surface combatants and carrier-based aircraft will evaluate the cross-platform utility and functionality of biofuels.
