摘要

A steel based on D2 tool steel without primary carbides (designated as D2 matrix steel) has been produced by several PM densification routes. Its toughness has been tested together with wrought and HIPed D2 with different microstructural characteristics. The presence of primary carbides is responsible for a dramatic decrease in the toughness of D2 steels compared with D2 matrix steel.
