IP seeds 'breakthrough' traits

"When will identity preserved traits become profitable on a meaningful scale?" This is one of the most elusive questions facing the industry today. As I work with many of you on a regular basis, I remain inspired, encouraged and challenged as agriculture and the seed industry continue to face both obstacles and opportunities not foreseen a decade ago. And, while I don't have the specific answer to the question posed above, I believe that we must approach the query with both microscopes and telescopes. Let me explain after first setting the stage. Identity Preserved seed has yet to produce it's breakthrough trait (or combination of traits). We've seen examples of several products coming to market...and all suffer fates that leave the market, for themost part, unchanged.
