Shandong Denghai, pioneer joint renture to market Seed corn

The JV begins by introducing a hybrid that was developed in China with local germplasm. Shandong Denghai Seeds Co. and Pioneer Hi-Bred International have teamed up to form the first joint venture in China licensed to market seed corn. Pioneer holds a49 percent ownership in the joint venture, which is aimed at improving corn productivity in China. The joint venture will begin marketing a hybrid for the 2004 planting season in three summer corn provinces (Shandong, Henan and Hebei). Approximately 7.5million hectares (18.5 million acres) of land are planted to corn in these three provinces.
