Recently, much progresses have been made inimproving the surface quality of therolled products. Nevertheless, wrinkles defined as a shallow crack type of around the rod surface still remains one of the major defects in the final products. If there are wrinkles onthe surface of finalproducts, it canbea driving site for the crack growth in the forging process of bolts and nuts and shaping process of spring. Thus, many customers (secondary processer) usually takes peelingprocess to remove surface defects before the secondary manufacturing process, which requires extra process cost. In order to solve the wrinkle problem, POSCO No.2 Rod Mill has trimed the top and tail part of final products, but triming, subsequently, caused the yield ratio decreased.
