It's all about fish: Kiwi catch crucial to Sydney Fish Market

Sydney's bustling, thriving Fish Market has the city's major auction floor for fish from all over Australia - and from New Zealand, as Jenny Haworth reports. The seven-day-a-week fish market comes to life early. Before most of Sydney is awake the carpark is crowded with fish trucks. As oarly as 4.30am, potential buyers are inspecting the hundreds of boxes of fish laid out on the floor of the main market. The auction begins at 5.30 am sharp. On average, around 100 species a day are traded through the auction system and it is thought to be the second-most diverse market in the world. The most diverse is Japan's Tsukiji, which trades over 500 species daily.
