Recognizing the synergy between artists and scrap, some recycling companies have encouraged the creative process by sponsoring scrap art competitions. The results? The artists have gained a forum for their creative expression, while the recyclers have aided budding artists, built goodwill in their communities, reaped positive media exposure, showcased the many facets of recycling, and proved that one person's scrap is another's artistic muse.
