Metal Management inc. (Chicago) plans to install new sorting technology from Steinert US L.L.C. (St. Petersburg, Fla.) at its shredding facilities in Denver, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Tucson, Chicago, and Nashville. The equipment includes nine Induction Sorting System (ISS) units, eight eddy-current nonferrous separators, and two MTE drum magnets. In addition, Metal Management's Nashville operation plans to install a 98/104 heavy-service shredder from Texas Shredder Inc. (San Antonio, Texas). A 4,000-hp Alstom motor will power the shredder, which features a complete in-feed and feeding system, a "no-weld" disc rotor from Bowe Machine Co. (Bettendorf, Iowa), and a Smart Recycling "autopilot" system.
