US duty case upsets shrimp sector

The U.S. International Trade Commission's (ITC) publication on its preliminary findings in the shrimp countervailing duty issue has given insight into the volume of exports that the US market can expect this year from producers and exporters in five of the seven countries under investigation. The combined data from the producers and exporters that gave information shows 635,029 metric tons of frozen warm-water shrimp is projected to be produced by Ecuador, India, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam. Theother two countries under investigation, China and Malaysia, didn't provide information. In addition, the ITC publication shows 275,584 metric tons of that frozen warmwater shrimp total is projected to be exported to the States this year.
