With the world’s steel associations up in arms over the rate of Chinese exports hitting the global markets, China’s finance ministry pledged to remove the export tax rebates on boron ‐added steel as of January 1. But while this removes a 9‐13% tax rebate on around 30% of exported products, the reaction around the world was muted with many adopting a waitand‐ see position.
