The official price index, which represents free-at-the-German border prices, fell 52.4 points to a 19-month low to 239.8 points, while the three-month rolling average was 6.4% weaker than in December. Against the previous year, prices were 8.3% lower, marking the first month of deflation since April 2010. In 2011, German importers paid 34.6% more on average for iron ore than a year earlier.
