Antam gets $257 million fromgovernment in rights issue

The Indonesian government hasinjected Rupiah 3.5 trillion ($257.4 million)into Aneka Tambang (Antam) through thediversified miner’s latest rights issue tosecure funding for operating activities andnew capacity projects, the company said in astatement Friday.From the total maximum proceeds ofRupiah 5.4 trillion Antam aims to raise in therights issue, Rupiah 3.5 trillion will be allocatedfor Phase I expansion at the East Halmaheraferronickel operations in North Malukuprovince. Upon completion of the expansion,total production capacity at Halmahera willincrease by 13,500 mt-15,000 mt/year of nickelcontained in ferronickel, or 52% to 58%.
