Suncoke says US Steel have to take Granite City coke

US cokemaker SunCoke Energy said Wednesday US Steel’s Granite City Works would have to take specified coke volumes under a contract running to 2025 as the steelmaker announced it would idle the Illinois-based plant temporarily on fluctuating demand Suncoke said the idling doesn’t change any obligations for US Steel to continue taking coke produced by its ovens at the site. Suncoke may ship coke from Granite City to other US Steel sites to help manage the situation, it added.
