However, a major trader in the province told Platts SBB the local market was not affected by price cuts at those mills since spot transactions have already fallen below contract levels. “I don't think major mills' buying prices are representative as they are very slow to purchase scrap,” the trader said. He said scrap supply has been relatively tight over the past few days, “but even this was not able to push prices upward due to extremely weak demand.”
