Brief China billet hike pushes Turkish scrap up

Prices of scrap imported into Turkey firmed Wednesday as a higher deal came to light just before the market on close process finalized. Platts assessment of Turkish premium heavy melting scrap I/ II (80:20) rose $3/mt on day Wednesday to $230/mt CFR. A North American merchant was confirmed to have sold a cargo to an EAFbased producer containing 30,000 mt of shred, 13,000 mt of HMS I and 7,000 mt of P&S for an average price of $237/mt CFR. This normalized to a price of $231- 232/mt CFR for HMS I/II 80:20 material.
