Shagang lifts scrap prices $19/mt to improve deliveries

Eastern Chinese scrap prices strengthened Thursday as major buyers hiked their buying prices, market sources told Platts Steel Business Briefing. In Jiangsu province, Shagang Group lifted its scrap buying prices by Yuan120/mt Thursday. This took its buying price for heavy melting scrap (over 6mm thick) to Yuan2,770/mt ($444/mt) on a delivered-to-mill basis including 17% VAT.
