Qr National to expand key coking coal rail capacity

Australian heavy haulage rail company QR National said in a statement to the Australian stock exchange Wednesday that it is to expand its existing brownfield coal rail system in Queensland's Bowen and Galilee Basins, starting with a 25 million mt/year expansion of the Goonyella and Newlands rail corridor. The company said the first stage of the expansion, which will expand the current capacity of the corridor to 75 million mt/ year, is to be achieved by duplicating sections of the Goonyella to Abbot Point (GAP) expansion project.
