Although Turkish mills' export offers for hot-dip galvanized (HDG) and pre-painted galvanized (PPGI) coil softened by a further $5-10/metric ton with the latest discounts, they were still facing difficulties in competing with low-priced rival offers in their main export markets, according to industry sources on Tuesday. "Despite the discounts, our offer prices to export markets stayed high compared to rivals' offers," an export executive at a Turkish producer said, adding: "none of our export markets have seen good demand since mid-December. We are trying to focus on alternative export markets to overcome this sluggish sentiment. However, there is still a significant gap between our export offer prices and Asian producers' offers, as much as $50/mt."
