Iran to impose duty on exports of iron ore and DRI

Iran is to implement an export duty on iron ore and direct reduced iron (DRI) according to the Ministry of Industry, Mines & Trade. According to a timetable published by the ministry the duty will be introduced and increased by steps up until 2018. The initial step will be a 5% duty on iron ore, following government approval; this will then rise to 10% from the beginning of the next Iranian year (March 21, 2017), and go up to 15% from March 21 2018. However, there has been no specific date given as to when the first duty will be imposed.
