China’s Kungang secures iron ore supply from Yuxi Mining

Kunming Iron & Steel (Kungang), a subsidiary of Wuhan Iron & Steel Group (Wisco) in south China’s Yunnan province, has struck an iron ore supply deal with local miner Yuxi Mining Co, thus reducing its reliance on expensive imported ore. Kungang signed a formal strategic cooperation deal with Yuxi Mining on 16 September, Wisco stated on its company website on Thursday. The new pact will allow the steelmaker to receive steady iron ore supplies from Yuxi Mining, a Kungang official told Steel Business Briefing, without disclosing the exact annual supply tonnage.
