There was little demand for Atlantic hard coking coal Friday, given the continued practice of steel mills in Europe and Brazil to blend coals using lower-priced material at a time of low steel output, in order to minimize costs. Platts assessed US low-vol hard coking coal down 2.50 dollars at 162.50 dollars/mt FOB US East Coast. US high-vol A was assessed 2.50 dollars lower at 152.50 dollars/mt FOB US East Coast, and US high-vol B remained at 117.50 dollars/mt FOB US East Coast.
