Spot coking coal prices were still under pressure from a lack of appetite Tuesday, as purchasing managers exercised caution amid continued weak steel market conditions. This meant those with cargoes to sell were looking to China, where prices were lower, sources confirmed. Platts assessed premium low-vol hard coking coal 1 dollars/mt lower at 217.50 dollars/mt FOB Australia, 9 dollars/mt off from a late-June high, while second-tier HCC was unchanged at 171 dollars/mt.
