There will be some resistance from buyers to higher manganese ore costs after BHP Billiton raised its price for May loadings, as demand remains less than buoyant, market participants said Tuesday. BHP lifted its monthly reference price for GEMCO lump by 25 cents to 5 dollars/dry mt unit, CIF China, for manganese ore shipments for May loading, market sources said Tuesday. Metallurgical fines Mn 48% were also up by 20 cents to 4.30 dollars/dmtu, while Mamatwan lumps Mn 38% increased 40 cents to 4.50 dollars/dmtu - both CIF China.
