BHP BILLITON-IRON ORE FOR CHINA'S GROWING STEEL INDUSTRY

Thank for the opportunity to address you today at this, Metal Bulletin's 2~(nd) China International Steel and Raw Materials Conference. BHP Billiton is about to move into a 'new phase' in our operations in the Pilbara. Like many of you here, we are very proud of our organization, our people, our operations, and what we have achieved over many years and particularly, the last decade. We are also very excited about the future prospects for our iron ore business, especially with respect to China, and growing our relationships with our Chinese customers in this important developing market. Ideally, we'd like you all to come and see our operations (not necessarily all at the time though!). That way, we could show you personally the changes and investments we have made and are making to improve our business. But since we can't take you there today, we though we'd bring them to you.
