Essar Steel targeting 5 million mt pellet output in 2012

India's Essar Steel is targeting iron ore pellet output of 5 million mt/year, from April 1, for its newly commissioned Paradip plant in the eastern state of Odisha (formerly Orissa), a company spokesman told Platts SBB Tuesday. Pellet output at Paradip will initially average 300,000 mt/month before being ramped up to reach the 5 million mt target by March 2013. The steelmaker announced Monday that it had commissioned the first 6 million mt/ year phase of the pellet works at Paradip.
