Restoration of the first dorsal interosseous muscle by transfer of the abductor pollicis longus tendon.

We used Neviaser's procedure, transfer of the abductor pollicis longus tendon, to restore the first dorsal interosseous muscle in two patients who had lost muscle function as a result of injury or resection of a tumour. The patients were satisfied with the increased strength and stability in pinch. There were no complications.
