With the recent introduction of the Express Entry system, the business community now has a greater role in influencing immigration selection to Canada. On January 1 2015, Express Entry became Canada's new application management system for economic-class immigrants. Applicants who qualify under the criteria set out in the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and/or Canadian Experience Class will see their applications managed by the new system. Through Express Entry, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) seeks to address labour shortages, reduce and prevent application backlogs, act as a conduit between employers and immigrants, and most compellingly, offer a swifter processing standard. All of this bodes well for Saskatchewan.
