Carboxymethylation of Wood in Different Solvents by the Action of Microwave Radiation

摘要

The carboxymethylation of pine and aspen wood in different solvents has been performed using microwave radiation. Products with a content of carboxymethyl groups of 4.6–25.9% have been obtained. It was found that the exposure to microwave radiation substantially diminishes the time of carboxymethylation (≈200 times). From carboxymethylated wood obtained with the use of microwave radiation, carboxymethyl cellulose with a higher yield and a greater portion of carboxymethyl groups than with the traditional heating can be derived.
