摘要

Alternative methods of oxygen supplementation are frequently used in the neonatal intensive care unit to avoid long-term endotracheal intubation, which may result in acquired subglottic stenosis. Nasal continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) provides an effective alternative and is routinely used at many pediatric institutions. Only few reports exist in the literature indicating that nasal CPAP support may cause significant nasal complications in an obligate nasal-breathing population.
