Managing massive data: Six key concepts behind storage-based solutions

The military is awash with data. Information pours in from land, air and space assets. The Distributed Common Ground System-Army (DCGS-A) alone collects intelligence information from more than 600 data sources. To make the data useful, military planners need storage-based solutions that can capture and contain all the information, while also making it readily identifiable, accessible and searchable. To illustrate the military's pressing need for more storage, Air Force officials point to the escalating capabilities of remotely piloted aircraft and ISR platforms.
