摘要

The grape (Vitis vinifera) germplasm collected from the diverse ecologies of Pakistan and other countries and being maintained in the field gene bank was used for the establishment of in vitro gene bank at the in vitro laboratory of the National Agricultural Research Centre, Islamabad during 2003. A number of accessions were used in combination with varying durations of treatments with 0.1% mercuric chloride. The culture response measured as the viability, mortality, contamination, shoot height, shoot number and number of nodes per explant was dependent upon the accession and the duration of the treatment with the disinfectant. Except one accession namely 4474 (1) which experienced 100% mortality, all other accessions were successfully established as in vitro cultures..
