Influence of environment on yield related traits of exotic oats cultivars.

摘要

Fodder production potential in eight oats cultivars including five exotic was determined at the National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC). Islamabad during two winter seasons of 1999-2000 and 2000-01. Significant differences were observed for plant height, green fodder yield and dry matter yield (P<0.01) and for tillers plant-1, number of green leaves tiller-1 among the years and leaf area (P<0.05). Highly significant differences among various oats genotypes were also observed for plant height, leaf area, green fodder yield and dry matter yield while non-significant for number of tillers plant-1 and number of green leaves tiller-1. Genotype x year interactions showed non-significant differences for all the characters except plant height (P<0.01) and leaf area (P<0.05). Exotic oats variety, Super late produced plants with maximum height and was also superior for number of green leaves, leaf area and ultimately the highest green fodder and dry matter yields over all the other cultivars including checks. Therefore, this variety is recommended for cultivation in irrigated and high rainfall (400-525 mm) areas if Islamabad Capital territory and Rawalpilidi district..
