Decorative laminates are much more than a pretty face. They must meet a wide array of often-conflicting requirements, balancing serviceability, appearance, and flammability needs. To meet these requirements the laminates must be tailored to the specific application, utilizing some of the most expensive engineering resins. The future will hold even more challenges as designers are now specifying photographic bulkheads, there are emerging ballistic requirements for certain panels, plus long range FAA goals to drive down the heat release values even further.
