摘要

The most effective way to accelerate aerospace research is through collaboration. During the days of the early space race competition caused the United States to move aggressively to put the first man on the moon. Over time the competitive process has evolved into a spirit of cooperation that cannot be accomplished by one individual, one company, or even one government. The University of New Orleans (UNO) is actively participating in these collaborative efforts through its National Center for Advanced Manufacturing. Operating under UNO's College of Engineering and located at the NASA-Michoud Assembly Facility (MAP) in New Orleans, NCAM is a joint effort by UNO, NASA, the State of Louisiana and Lockheed Martin to develop new technologies for use in aerospace and commercial applications that require advanced manufacturing processes.
