The top priorities for aerospace composites are low cost and rapid manufacturing processes. Secondary priorities for aerospace space composites are the inherent advantages over other materials in performance and weight. Many fabrication techniques are used in aerospace composite manufacturing. Low cost techniques which offer rapid manufacturing processes, programmable repeatability, high quality parts, automated production and unitization of structure will be the preferred manufacturing methods. Carbon fiber product forms which are specifically tailored to meet the requirements of these manufacturing methods will become preferred materials.
