MSHA announces midyear fatality numbers

Arlington, VA - Mining deaths were at an all-time low in the first half of this year, the Mine Safety and Health Administration announced July 27.As of June 30, 14 miners had died - eight in coal mines and six in metal and non-metal mines, MSHA said. Causes of death included machinery incidents, rib and roof collapses, powered haulage incidents, and falls.
