WASHINGTON-New evaluation results of several self-contained self-rescuers in underground coal mines indicated the devices' performance degrades due to the environment.Between 2000 and 2004,more than 400 deployed SCSRs from five brands were tested as part of the eighth and ninth phases of NIOSH's Long Term Field Evaluation on the devices.
